The Nature Journal is a resource designed for primary school children and families to explore the MUSE biotope. This is a reconstruction of a wetland area in the valley where over 80 different plant species can be found, many of which are rare or extinct.
Nature journaling is the practice of recording observations of nature. The journal includes activities like weather observation, emotional reflection, sensory exploration, and plant and animal research. The learning objective is to support the conservation and promotion of the ecological value of wetlands.
The first part of the activity consists of observing the weather, the sky and the clouds; then, the students are asked to analyse their emotional state. To increase the engagement of the participants, the museum proposes spending a few minutes blindfolded to activate the other senses.
Keeping nature journals can sharpen observation skills and promote health and well-being. By focusing on water's historical and ecological significance, MUSE's Nature Journal also fosters a deeper connection with nature.
The journal includes activities like weather observation, emotional reflection, sensory exploration, and plant and animal research. It also highlights the role of human activities in wetland conservation. Designed to foster a deep connection with nature, the journal uses stunning illustrations and encourages participants to explore the importance of wetlands in maintaining biodiversity.
