The 5th Conference of the Global Network of Water Museums, titled “Cities of Water –'Cities of Water – Peace and Prosperity through Water Sustainability Education”, will take place this year in Porto, Portugal, from the 9th to the 11th of October.
Hosted in the elegant and prestigious Palacio do Freixo, one of the historic symbols of the city, the conference is organised in collaboration with Aguas e Energia do Porto (AEdP), the Parque Patrimonial das Aguas, and other partners.
Conference Programme
The conference aims to address the historical and contemporary challenges of sustainable urban water management with a view to promote peace, cooperation and water sustainability education - that is, a key priority for the Phase 9 of UNESCO-IHP (Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme).
Captivating presentations will be combined with interactive sessions, roundtable discussions, networking activities and partnering opportunities among water museums and different institutions. The WAMU-NET General Assembly will highlight key projects and good practices to stimulate new ideas and proposals for water heritage preservation, promotion, and education. The conference will also offer a unique opportunity to visit the rich water heritage of the city of Porto.
