We are thrilled to announce the sixth edition of The Water We Want (TWWW), our annual youth prize contest that encourages young voices to explore and champion our precious water legacies, both natural and cultural, tangible and intangible.
Running from October 2024 to June 2025, TWWW envisions a more sustainable future by engaging the youth in water sustainability education and fostering water awareness.
THE TOPIC
All submitted artworks must focus on fresh water (excluding salt waters and oceans) and issues related to biodiversity, climate change, and the diverse facets of water legacies (both natural and cultural, tangible and intangible heritage).
THE PARTICIPANTS
The competition is open to schools, learning institutions (both formal and informal) and civil society organizations worldwide. We invite submissions from:
Students aged 6 to 9 (primary education)
Students aged 10 to 12 (primary education)
Students aged 13 to 18 (secondary education)
Students 19 to 25 (higher education)
THE CATEGORIES
Entries are accepted in the following categories:
Drawings (individual or classwork compositions)
Videos and other media (including videos, pictures, posters, poems, soundscapes, and songs – even reinterpretations of traditional music
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
– Any school or teacher interested in participating should contact the closest water museum affiliated with the Global Network of Water Museums; alternatively, WAMU-NET members can initiate a collaboration with local schools, learning institutions and civil society organisations;
– Engage students in educational activities focusing on water-related issues (specifically fresh waters) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while producing original, eligible entries (see the Call for Contributions);
– By 26 April 2025, schools and learning institutions should submit their work to their chosen WAMU-NET water museum (not directly to WAMU-NET);
– By 9 May 2025, each participating WAMU-NET member should shortlist a maximum of six works and submit them, along with the required Submission Sheet, to the dedicated email account thewaterwewant@watermuseums.net.
